The Current State of Things

Anybody who’s been near the news knows this already, but it bears repeating. As of this morning there were over three-quarters of a million Coronavirus cases worldwide with the United States having more than 150,000 of those cases. More than 36,000 people have died and the stats make it look like there is definitely no end in sight at least at this time. Believe it or not, this is the PERFECT TIME to Increase Your Credit Score.

Let me assure you, that I’m not taking this situation lightly. And I hope that I’m not stepping on anybody’s toes by saying the things that I’m saying.

I want to point out a few facts that are present since this has started.

We have willingly surrendered many of our symbol civil liberties in order to stay safe at this point. The US Chamber of Commerce has warned that the gross domestic product could drop up to 40% in the second quarter as a result of a social distancing, remote work, and everything shutting down. 3.3 million people have filed for unemployment up from 281,000 the week prior, beating the previous record of 695,000 in October 1982.

The worst-case scenarios according to the CDC look like between 200,000 and 1.7 million deaths in the United States alone before this is all said and done.

Now here’s where I might step on some toes so brace yourself. The simple fact is that pandemics happen. Just like tsunamis happen and hurricanes happen. I think no matter what level of fail-safes we create to try to control our environment, we’re always going to be faced with things of this nature. The question is how do we react and respond when such things occur.

Three Basic Response Scenarios

The way I look at it there’s three basic response scenarios.

A person can panic. I think we saw that the very beginning whenever some started stockpiling toilet paper.

And we can certainly get paranoid. I have seen all kinds of crazy things floating out through the Internet about what sort of precautions one should take to stay clear of this virus. I’m not saying social distancing is BS, I think it’s a great idea, but I also believe that there such a thing as self-fulfilling prophecies and it’s well-known from more than one medical paper that has passed across my desk that between 80 and 90% of all disease can be brought on overstressing the body. There’s a lot of people right now that are overstressed.

The third alternative is you can plan and then take action. That’s what I want to talk to you folks about today.

TIME is on Your Side

So here is how you increase your credit score. Under the fair credit reporting act a credit reporting agency has to review and respond to every dispute it receives within 30 days.

This is an oversimplification, but President Trump just said that we are all staying home at least until the end of April now. That means everybody is understaffed. Experian is understaffed. TransUnion is understaffed. Equifax is understaffed.

On top of that, all the lenders are understaffed as well. Can you get into your bank right now? I know I can’t get into mine, everything is being done online. Many banks are not even doing drive-through business right now.

If there was ever a time to jam up the system now is that time. The reason is, the system is pretty jammed up all on its own.

The Is NOT “Jamming”

Now little caveat here, I’m not proposing jamming.

In Jamming, a credit repair organization challenges everything whether it’s legit or not and does it in such a way that it it potentially jams up the systems at the big three or what the lenders and then that 30 days passes so the credit bureau is compelled to remove the item.

And although I’m not proposing jamming I want to point out to you that jamming is not illegal and it does in fact work. Most often it only works temporarily however. What I’m proposing is what I think will be a more permanent fix.

Here’s the “How To”

So let me be clear about what the plan is if you are going to increase your credit score. I suggest that you as a consumer file disputes. And what I want you to do is file one dispute for each item on the credit report. Now if there’s more than one mistake on a credit report entry I don’t want you to mention all the mistakes, all you need is one mistake per entry and your good. In fact you’re golden.

I want you to send out one letter per credit report entry, I want it sent out certified, and as I pointed out I don’t want you to mention all the mistakes on a particular entry just use one. One is all it takes guys

When these guys can’t get the job done within the next 30 days you’re going to see a major increase in your credit score.

And all the other mistakes that might be on a particular entry? Well guess what, you can use those if they bump back any of your letters as frivolous.

Stay Safe out there Y’all!
